Getting Back on Track When You’ve Lost Your Enthusiasm for Life


Have you lost all enthusiasm for life? Did your “get up and go” get up and leave? If so, you certainly aren’t alone!


Many people lose their enthusiasm for life somewhere along the way. Whether it is down to depression, or because you are stuck in a rut, losing your enthusiasm is frustrating. However, there are ways you can get back on track and regain your enjoyment of life. Let’s look at some of the things you can do right now to regain your enthusiasm for life…


What Is Holding You Back

It’s a good idea to figure out exactly what it is that is holding you back. Is it self-doubt? Or maybe you had unrealistic expectations that led to you giving up on what you wanted. When you figure out exactly what it is that has caused you to lose your enthusiasm for life, you can then work on getting it back.


Get Into A Healthy Routine

One thing that will really help you regain your enthusiasm is getting into a healthy and positive routine. The things we do each day, determine how we feel. So, if you are currently feeling lost and like you are just sailing blindly through life, switching up your routine can help.


Start with your morning routine. Does it leave you feeling energized, positive, and inspired? If not, change it up so it better serves you. Here are some suggestions:


  1. Avoid checking your phone and the news as soon as you wake up. Do things the night before that will make your mornings easier. When you start the day right, it can leave you feeling a lot more positive throughout.

  2. Start your day with reading a verse of Scripture and Prayer (Early will I seek You...Psalm 63:1).

  3. Take sometime to stretch and may be add some light excercise.

  4. Write down or read some decrees for your day (You will also declare a thing,And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways (Job 22:28).

  5. Take some time and thank God for all that He has allowed you to possess and experience - no matter how small or how large. Gratitude will change your life.


Right Thinking Is Important to Positive Change

If you are going to realign your life, you must realign your thinking. In the world-renowned book As A Man Thinketh by James Allen, he states, “A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.” What you think about will affect your surrounding and your "get up and go."


Your thoughts and your meditations will determine how quickly you will get back on track. We all know life happens, but we are confident that God will gives us the grace to recover but it starts with our thoughts. Start thing positive thoughts. Here is what the Apostle Paul says "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things (Philippians 4:8)."


Surround Yourself With Positivity

As you’ve probably guessed by now, staying positive is key to regaining your enthusiasm. The people you surround yourself with make a huge difference in how you feel. If you currently spend time with negative people, you will naturally have a more negative outlook on life too.


When you start to surround yourself with positive people, you, too, become more positive. You will see opportunities and start to enjoy each day. Your inner circle should consist of people who build you up and support you. When you have encouragement and support, it helps you to feel like you can take on anything.


Know When To Seek Help

Sometimes, we can’t muster up much enthusiasm for life because we may be suffering from

depression. If you suffer from mild depression, the above tips may help you to overcome your current low state. However, if you have moderate to severe depression, you may need professional help to battle the condition. Getting this help can be invaluable for returning your passion and joy for life.


Everyone goes through times when they lose interest in life. However, the key thing to remember is that you are not stuck. There are things you can do right now to regain your enthusiasm and live a happier and more fulfilled life.



Have Faith that Better is Coming

Faith is the most important tool you will ever need that will reframe your world. Jesus said "...Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says (Mark 11:22-23)."


Know that as you trust God that He will give you fresh and renewed passion. Not only will He refresh you but He will give you the strength to start over again.


If you make some slight changes in your life I firmly believe that you are on your way to better in your life. You are on your way to your comeback.
